Each year the Kyle Farr Memorial award is presented to the unit who brings out the most soldiers to run the Race For A Soldier half marathon in Gig Harbor, Washington. Last week, Leslie Mayne presented the award to the Chaplain’s Challenge 51st ESB unit and was asked to speak to them about her son Kyle’s story and about suicide awareness. She spoke to a group of over 300 soldiers and received a challenge coin from Captain Steve Taylor of Joint Base Lewis McChord. It was a very powerful morning for Leslie.

Our blessings are countless. Among our greatest blessings is our freedom, one which we owe a great debt of gratitude to our heroes-the men and women of our Armed Forces. Contrast our comfort this Thanksgiving and the coziness of the season to the dry, dusty and dirty conditions of the Middle East. As we sit down to our tables and feast on bountiful food and drink with our loved ones, remember that our Soldiers are scanning the horizon for terrorists, IEDs and other threats so we can remain free and safe.

They are currently working together researching the effects of nature as a medication for combat veteran mental health.
Military Officers Association of America's (MOAA) Kitsap Chapter hosted Leslie Mayne, Founder of the Permission to Start Dreaming Foundation for a luncheon speech on Friday October 28th at the Bremerton Elks Lodge. Leslie also contributed a check to MOAA for $150 on behalf of the PTSD Foundation.
