Miles with Miguel

Whether it's your first time running a half marathon or your a veteran of long distance running, it's always recommended to use a program schedule that steadily improves you. Thus, Miguel Galeana (of Route 16 Running & Walking) will be hosting two group runs to help train for the Half Marathon. In addition to leading an 8 and 11 mile run at an easy pace, these runs will cover some of the RACE COURSE (see maps below).

Leading up to the group runs and race, here's a long run schedule of where you should be in your training:

August (Sundays)

  • 10th - 6 miles
  • 17th - 8 miles
  • 24th - 9 miles
  • 31st - 10 miles

September (Sundays)

  • 4th - 8 miles (see below)
  • 11th - 11-13 miles (see below)
  • 18th - 8 miles easy pace
  • 25th - RACE DAY

 

 

Preview Run, September 4th at 8am

On Sunday, September 4th at 8am, Route 16 will meet in front of the Tom Taylor YMCA. This 8 mile run will preview the first 3 miles of the start:

 

 

Preview Run, September 11th at 8am

On Sunday September 11th at 8am, Route 16 will meet in front of the Tom Taylor YMCA. This 11 mile run will run out to the corner of Crescent Valley and 144th.  From there the last 7 miles of the Half Marathon will be previewed:
