Thank you for your interest in Race For A Soldier! Whether you are an accomplished runner or this is your first run of this kind — you are in for an incredible experience for a GREAT cause! The city of Gig Harbor, Washington has welcomed us with open arms and beautiful scenery that makes this event one of a kind.

Memorial Day is Monday, May 29th this year.  Beginning with the Civil War, it has been a day for remembrance of those who have died in service to our country. The Permission To Start Dreaming Foundation invites you to recognize our brave Warriors who are no longer with us by visiting one of the local businesses in Gig Harbor and across the country who will be displaying a table in their place of business. Known as the “missing man” table, we see this as a tangible opportunity to reflect the true meaning of Memorial Day.

Do you enjoy having fun? Are you enthusiastic, organized and a team player? WE NEED YOU! We are looking for qualified volunteers for the 2017 Race For a Soldier Half Marathon  & 5k in Gig Harbor.

Join us for the 8th Annual Seahawks 12K Run!

For years the Seattle Seahawks have sponsored the 12th Mile of Race For A Soldier, and we're happy to be on the roster once again for the 2017 Seahawks 12K Run on Sunday April 9th!

Thank you for your courageous leadership, we are proud to partner with you! Camp Patriot offers outdoor recreational therapy programs to wounded and disabled veterans of all generations. Veterans attending Camp Patriot are empowered through their own unique abilities and professional coaching to conquer various outdoor programs.

Each year the Kyle Farr Memorial award is presented to the unit who brings out the most soldiers to run the Race For A Soldier half marathon in Gig Harbor, Washington. Last week, Leslie Mayne presented the award to the Chaplain’s Challenge 51st ESB unit and was asked to speak to them about her son Kyle’s story and about suicide awareness.

The Power of Nature helps our Veterans dealing with PTSD

Foundation friend and US Army Veteran Joshua Brandon co-wrote a recent article featured on REI.com with nationally renowned medical researcher Dr. Frumkin regarding his personal experience with the healing power of being outdoors. They are currently working together researching the effects of nature as a medication for combat veteran mental health.

Thank a Veteran today.

We hope you feel honored in the way you so richly deserve.

Leslie Mayne speaks at the Bremerton Elks Lodge

A special thanks to the Military Officers Association of America's Kitsap Chapter for hosting Leslie Mayne, Founder of the Permission to Start Dreaming Foundation, for a luncheon speech on Friday October 28th at the Bremerton Elks Lodge.

Thank you runners, volunteers and sponsors!

Wow, another year and another amazing event! From record numbers to perfect weather, and a crowd we couldn't be more proud of, we can't thank everyone enough that helped to make our 6th Annual Race For A Soldier the best one yet!

The Permission To Start Dreaming Foundation has been named Bonneville Seattle’s and Seattle Seahawks Charity of the Month for August!

We are beyond humbled and are so very thankful for helping us to get the word and the mission out to the community!

Martin Park runs local marathon in 48.5 pounds of gear and raises $3,300 for the Permission To Start Dreaming Foundation!

We just can't say enough to thank Martin Park, a 24-year-old former active duty Marine (now a reservist) for going above and beyond to "create some visibility for a real national problem," for promoting our race, and for donating to the cause!
